the greater whole

When we bring two seemingly opposing elements together we can remember wholeness. At the core of difference is a unity where each defines the other.

Within Indian spiritual philosophy, the concept of Spanda - a Sanskrit word derived from, spadi, meaning “to move a little” is used to describe the universe in constant pulsation. Constantly moving between two aspects of the whole, rather than being in direct opposition, polarity or duality.

This expression of contrast, compliment and wholeness is central to Fool Dost; we create pieces that subtly embody those contrasts. Playfully and delicately balancing the South Asian and Western aesthetic sensibilities to make pieces that allow our wearers to imprint and express their own values and attitude. This philosophy is woven into our design, our relationships, our process and our outlook.
